2 Lytton, Rosina Bulwer. Baroness Bulwer Lytton. Cheveley; or The Man of honour.
Paris Baudry's European Library 1839 First Editiion Quarter Calf Very Good 8vo
This was the first of her 14 novels: she, not unlike her husband, Edward Bulwer-Lytton, was forced to earn a living. Of course, this novel is caricatures her husband, from who she was estranged. The Dedication ( more than two pages worth) drips with sarcasm. It begins, "To NO ONE NOBODY, Esq., of No Hall, Nowhere." 8vo; vii, 415 pages, contemporary green cloth, quarter leather spine embossed with the emblem of Hopetoun House in Scotland, with its bookplate and one other inside. 007070
