New York Macmillan 1908 1st Edition Green Cloth Very Good  Sm 8vo
Royce was the leading American proponent of absolute idealism. He became one of the more influential philosophers of the 20th century. The "philosophy of loyalty" was a primary focus or expression for him. His lecture on race questions here flows from that philosophy. That lecture focusses on condition in Jamaica. Treatment of Japanese national spirit occurs in his chapter on "Provincialism". The final chapter covers physical training and athletics, with a nod to mountaineering. 1908 Xmas inscription to Alice G. Rood on endpaper. 004011
