A quintessential work for the appreciation of genius, both in its illustrator, William Blake, and of the genius child, Thomas Williams Malkin, who is the subject of this memoir. Benj. Malkin was an early friend to William Blake, whose frontispiece drawing was engraved by Robert Cromek. Pages 18-43 if the Prefatory Letter is the earliest account of William Blake's early life and training. Additionally, it gives the first book appearances of more than six of Blake's poems, especially his famed "The Tiger". With another engraved plate, facsimile letter, and fold-out map drawn by young Thomas Malkin.
